About Dystonia and the DMRF

Dystonia is a neurological movement disorder — the third most common after Parkinson's Disease and essential tremor — that causes involuntary muscle contractions, leading to repetitive movements and abnormal postures. These symptoms can affect daily functioning, and are often painful and disabling. Dystonia affects people of all ages, backgrounds, and stages of life.

The Dystonia Medical Research Foundation (DMRF) is the oldest, most established dystonia patient organization in the world and an internationally recognized leader, driving global research and providing services to individuals and families impacted by all forms of dystonia.

the DMRF’s mission is to advance global research for more effective treatments and ultimately a cure, promote awareness and education, and support the needs and well-being of affected individuals and families.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, contributions to the DMRF are tax deductible. And you can give with confidence, as DMRF holds the highest rating from Charity Navigator and has earned a Platinum Seal from Candid, demonstrating the Foundation’s ongoing transparency and effectiveness.
